“You’re the one thing that was easy today.”
A teary resident from Cohasset evacuating from the Park Fire breathed a sigh of relief after calling for help with her animals.
Over the last 16 days, NVADG has had the privilege to help over 1,680 animals in the Park Fire.
We’ve taken over 280 service requests to help evacuate or shelter-in-place animals, and dedicated evacuation teams have geared up daily to head behind the fire lines (with the approval of the Sheriff and County). Around 200 volunteers have spent two weeks walking, feeding, and caring for the dogs, cats, horses, goats, cows, and other animals under our care in the field and in the emergency shelters.
And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
If we can provide a little bit of relief, a way to make evacuees’ days a little easier, then we are proud to be here. We are here to take care of the animals, so people affected by fire or other disasters can breathe a little easier and take care of themselves, their families, and their situations.
North Valley Animal Disaster Group volunteers are so thankful to be able to help our community during emergencies like these.
Butte County is an amazing place to live, largely because of the wonderful people who call it home and step up to help their neighbors time and time again. Many NVADG volunteers are fire survivors themselves, grateful to be able to pay it forward for the help they received in the past.
For those of you returning to your homes or finding a new way to move forward after this fire, please know it’s been our honor to care for your animals. Now, it’s time to take care of yourselves and and take time to process. Hug your families–4-legged members, too.
